Bible Libel Cards, New from Jewish FunnyBone, Find Wacky Humor in an Unlikely Place - the Old Testament

Westboro, MA (PRWEB) April 26, 2008 -- No one can say with absolute certainty what happened in Biblical times. So, even those who do take the Bible literally would have to admit that a whole lot of cool stuff probably didn't make it into the final draft. And that's where Bible Libel? greeting cards come in. Think of them as Biblical outtakes. Think of them as ideas pulled from God's dumpster. But however you think of them, be prepared. They're gonna make you laugh.

Consider the possibilities. A chance meeting between Jonah and Pinocchio inside the belly of the whale. Shivering, Jonah decides dismember the wooden Pinocchio and turn him into a camp fire. The headline: "Wet and cold inside the belly of the whale, Jonah kindles a new friendship." The inside payoff: "May you always enjoy the warmth of good friends. Happy Birthday!"

Then there's the brilliant Solomon. Here he is a magician on stage standing behind a wooden box with the head and feet of a baby protruding out of opposite ends. A large saw in hand, he prepares to cut the hilariously terrified baby in half. The headline: "King Solomon discovers a way to divide the baby after all." Inside: "Happy Birthday to the wisest man I know."

Another card shows a joyous Noah at the helm of an animal-packed ark celebrating the sight of land. Unbeknownst to anyone on board, however, is that the land is actually an iceberg. Talk about titanic irony! The headline: "His long ordeal over, Noah rejoices at the sight of land." Inside: "What's a party without plenty of ice? Happy Birthday!"

Other cards in this wacky and unprecedented series include David slaying Goliath with Bathsheba's thong instead of a slingshot, Moses toasting a marshmallow over the burning bush and Daniel performing as a lion tamer at the Colosseum in Rome.

Illustrated by Mark Brewer --- whose work has appeared on the covers of Newsweek,The American Conservative and Strategic Finance as well as in The Wall Street Journal, Wine & Spirits, Golfstyles and many other publications --- Bible Libel offers a wildly fresh and iconoclastic view of famous Old Testament people and events. What's more, because of its Old Testament focus, the series is aimed at a Christian audience, too. Says Dan Brown, Jewish FunnyBone owner and creator, "Why should Jews have all the fun?"
